Nicolás Vidal Vázquez is a predoctoral researcher in the NEURODEVO group. He studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) from 2017 to 2021, completing his Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG) under the supervision of Eva Candal. During the 2020‑2021 academic year, he was awarded a Collaboration Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. Between 2021 and 2022, he completed a Master’s in Neuroscience at USC, carrying out his Master’s Thesis (TFM) under the supervision of Eva Candal and Antón Barreiro Iglesias. He received a research initiation grant for master’s students at USC from May to November 2022.

Since 2022, he has been a predoctoral student in the PhD Program in Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology at USC, supervised by Eva Candal and Antón Barreiro Iglesias, and has held a University Teaching Training (FPU) fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities since 2022. His research focuses on postnatal neurogenesis in the retina of the catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula), a species that, due to its phylogenetic position and slow development, represents an interesting experimental model for studying nervous system evolution and development.
