Jesús Lamas is Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He is a member of the PARAQUASIL research group (Interdisciplinary Group on Pharmaceutical Technology, Parasitic Immunobiology and Waterborne Parasitoses).
His research focuses on the fish immune system, addressing aspects ranging from morphofunctional studies to the analysis of immune responses to pathogens. In particular, and in collaboration with Parasitology faculty, his most recent research has focused on the interactions between the parasitic ciliate Philasterides dicentrarchi and the immune system of turbot, analysing various aspects of ciliate cell biology and physiology, virulence factors, and vaccine development.
He is co-author of around 90 scientific articles in JCR-indexed journals, three book chapters, and has participated as PI1 or PI2 in European, national, regional projects, and with private companies, as well as in research networks. He is also co-inventor of three patents.
