González Llera, Laura
PhD student (PI: A. BARREIRO)
Address: CIBUS
Laura graduated in Biology in 2020 from the University of Oviedo. In 2021, she completed a Master’s in Neuroscience at the University of Santiago, joining the Department of Functional Biology to carry out her Master’s thesis. That same year, she began her doctoral research in neuroscience under the supervision of Antón Barreiro Iglesias and Laura Sánchez Piñón.
Her work focuses on neurogenesis and axonal regeneration in two animal models: lamprey and zebrafish, with the primary goal of identifying new drugs and signaling pathways that regulate these processes. To date, Laura has published seven scientific articles and presented her results at several national and international neuroscience conferences.
In 2023, she was awarded an EMBO fellowship to present her work on the role of prostaglandins in spinal neurogenesis at the American Society for Cell Biology Congress.
