Address:

Alba Paz Castro (ORCID: 0000-0001-6813-7837) is a predoctoral researcher in the BioLinfo and NANOMAG groups at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. She obtained her degree in Biology from USC (2021) and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Research (2022), also from USC. Since 2024, she has been carrying out her PhD research focused on the development of novel CAR-T cell-based therapies for the treatment of solid tumors, such as breast and lung cancer. Her work focuses on the design and optimization of new CAR receptors, as well as on strategies to improve the efficacy of these therapies and overcome the barriers of the tumor microenvironment.

Before focusing on this field, she worked on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their relevance in neurological and pharmacological processes, including studies on their role in schizophrenia.

Throughout her career, she has attended more than 10 international and national conferences, where she has presented advances in her research. At one of these conferences, she was awarded first prize for best poster at the 2nd Transatlantic ECI GPCR Symposium (2022). In addition, she is the author of articles published in international journals, including work in Small, British Journal of Pharmacology, and ChemMedChem.

Research lines:

  • CAR-T cell therapies applied to solid tumors.
