Aguilera Guirao, Antonio

Antonio Aguilera is a Specialist in Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology and has combined healthcare work with scientific research from the start of his career, focusing on the virology of retroviruses and hepatotropic viruses.

This is the line of his doctoral thesis, of most of his scientific publications, of the research projects in which he has taken part as principal investigator or collaborator, and of the doctoral theses he has supervised.

He was part of the AIDS Research Network (RIS), of several consolidated working groups, scientific committees and boards of scientific societies, and acts as a reviewer for the Elsevier group.

He is also an associate professor at the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he teaches on the Medicine degree, and is linked to the Microbiology Service of the University Hospital Complex of Santiago de Compostela, which he leads.
