Food Safety
The LREC-Food Safety team, led by Professor Azucena Mora, focuses its research on the link between food safety, antibiotic resistance "from farm to fork, and the environment" from a One Health perspective.
Through funding grants AGL2016-79343-R, PID2019-104439RB-C21, and PID2022-143041OB-I00, the team coordinates a multidisciplinary consortium with experts in human and veterinary clinical diagnostics, food safety, wildlife, and omics technologies. This line of research has received the 2024 National Plan against Antibiotic Resistance (PRAN) award from the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) in the category of "Best Research Initiative on Antibiotic Resistance."
In addition, the team offers "Diagnostic and advisory services related to microbiological techniques for the genotyping of E. coli strains."
