Address: IAQBUS

Rosario Rodil is a professor in the field of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela. She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from USC in 2005 and, after research periods at the UFZ-Umweltforschungszentrum Leipzig-Halle (Germany) (2005–2006) and the University of A Coruña (2006–2009), she returned to USC as a Ramón y Cajal researcher in 2009 and, after holding different academic positions, has been Associate Professor since 2022. She is an editor of the Elsevier journal Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering.

The main focus of her research is the assessment of environmental impact and human health risks arising from exposure to organic contaminants. This is addressed through: the development of high-performance analytical methodologies; the study of the presence and distribution of organic contaminants in the environment (mainly aquatic systems); the estimation of the bioaccessible fraction of contaminants; the identification of transformation products during water treatment processes; the study of contaminant exposure through urine analysis (biomonitoring); and the analysis of wastewater for epidemiological purposes (wastewater-based epidemiology, WBE).
