Carlos Rodríguez Osorio is Professor of Microbiology at USC and a member of the Aquaculture Pathology Research Group (GIPA). He earned his BSc (1995) and PhD (2000) in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela, receiving extraordinary awards. He undertook predoctoral stays at the University of Reading (United Kingdom) and the Health Science Center at the University of Texas (USA), and postdoctoral stays at Universität Tübingen (Germany) and Tufts University (Boston, USA).
His research focuses on developing biotechnological solutions for infections caused by Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida, subsp. damselae, Vibrio harveyi, and other species. He has published more than 80 international articles and 7 book chapters. He has supervised 12 doctoral theses and served as principal investigator for four national and two regional projects, as well as for contracts with companies for both services and the transfer and valorisation of research results in aquaculture pathology.
He has participated as a project evaluator for several international agencies and, since 2023, has been manager of the Livestock and Aquaculture subarea at the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI).
