Emeritus professor and director of the Molecular Systematics Laboratory of the University of Santiago de Compostela, after serving as vice-president for Research (1990-94). President of the NGO “Network for the sustainable management of marine resources in the West Africa ecoregion. AFRIMAR” (www.afrimar.org), of the “Forum of Marine Resources and Aquaculture of the Galician Rías (ForoAcui)” (www.foroacui.com), and of the “Ibero-American Forum of Marine Resources and Aquaculture (FIRMA)” (www.firmaonline.com).
His research activity relates to the application of molecular techniques to marine resources and aquaculture.
