María Ramil obtained her PhD in Chemistry (USC, 2003). She completed her postdoctoral training at the German Federal Institute of Hydrology (2004–2007) in Koblenz, Germany. In 2007 she returned to USC as a fellow of the Isidro Parga Pondal programme (Xunta de Galicia) and became Associate Professor in 2013. She has been Full Professor since 2021.
During this period, her research activity has focused mainly on the development of new analytical methodologies for the determination of various organic compounds (POPs, emerging contaminants, etc.) in different matrices (environmental, food and industrial samples), based on the use of chromatography and mass spectrometry as detection techniques.
She has participated in more than 20 research projects (regional, national and international) and has authored over 80 publications, most of them in Q1 journals in the fields of Analytical Chemistry or Environmental Sciences. She has supervised five doctoral theses (cum laude). Her H-index is 32.
