Carlos P. Dopazo has over 35 years of experience in aquatic animal virology. He began his scientific career with an FPI contract (Research Personnel Training) (1987–1990) and has held positions as adjunct professor (1991–1995), interim professor (1996–1997), and university professor (1997–present). He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, with an average Q of 1.5, and nine peer-reviewed book and journal chapters.
He has been and continues to be principal investigator of 21 research projects, four of them European. He served as coordinator of ReGABA (Galician Network of Biotechnology in Aquaculture, 2004–2008), the International Network of Lower Vertebrate Viruses (INVLV, 2010–2018), the Official Interuniversity Master’s in Aquaculture of Galicia (2008–2024), and is currently coordinator of the national EpiMar Network (2023–present). He was Director of the Institute of Aquaculture from 2015 to 2023, and since 2024 he has been Director of iARCUS (Aquatic Research Institute for Global Health).
