Marta A. Lages holds a degree in Biosciences, specialized in Microbiology, from the Escola Superior de Biotecnoloxía at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She completed a master’s degree in Applied Microbiology at the same institution. During her predoctoral studies, she received a FEMS fellowship for a research stay at i3S (Universidade do Porto). In 2022, she defended her doctoral thesis, which was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize.
She is currently a research collaborator in the Aquaculture Pathology Research Group (GIPA). Her research focuses on the study of virulence factors in marine pathogens, primarily in siderophore-mediated iron uptake systems and pathogen development.
