Rosa Montes obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2010 from the University of Santiago de Compostela. In 2012, she joined the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Barcelona with a three-year Juan de la Cierva contract.

She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Food Science at USC. Her research focuses on the development of analytical tools for determining environmental contamination in different matrices (water, biota, etc.), particularly for the detection of emerging contaminants (ECs) and persistent, mobile and toxic substances (PMTs). She also studies population exposure to these substances through the analysis of these compounds and their human metabolites in urine, wastewater and surface waters.

She is the author of three book chapters and more than 70 scientific articles in journals in the fields of Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Science, with an H-index of 27 in Scopus. She has participated in 13 research projects (three of them international) and seven research networks (three international), and holds the R3 certification as a consolidated researcher.
